한국기독교장로회와 협력하고 있는 태국그리스도교회 방문단을 환영합니다. 동남아시아에서 선교역할을 잘 감당하고 있는 태국그리스도교회와 세계선교를 위해 함께 일하기를 원합니다. 또한 우리가 직면하고 있는 사회적, 정치적 도전과 현실에서 상호관계를 통해 함께 협력할 때, 놀라운 성령의 은혜가 우리의 사역 가운데 넘쳐흐르기를 기대합니다.
Brothers and Sisters in the service of Jesus,
It is a blessing to join my greetings to Moderator Park Dong Il as we welcome this important delegation of Church Leaders from Thailand to be with us and activate the partnership between CCT and PROK.
We look forward to learning of your experience as our partner Church in another country. Thailand is an important central position in South East Asia, surrounded as it is by the neighbouring countries of Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia, and as such is a good centre from which the Gospel can be spread to Asia.
We also know that in Thailand the Christians represent yeast and light through their contributions to health care and education, human rights, and other benefits that have come from the West. That has been very much our Korean experience as well, and we are grateful to missionaries from Europe and America. But in this time of history it is important to strengthen our partnerships with Asian brothers and sisters, and really begin to articulate an Asian theology and Asian understanding of what God calls us to do.
We need to find ways to support each other in the social and political challenges and realities we face, and help each other in our witness and mission to the world. We hope that you and the Presbyteries with whom you will develop partnerships will be able to talk of such things, and find ways to build such relationships that will mutually nurture and change the Korean Church and the Thai Church.
In these coming days, it is my hope that you will enjoy the many things you see and do here, but also be challenged and surprised by the Spirit’s leading. God bless you, and thank you.
