지난 몇 년 동안 번의 역할은 캐나다연합교회의 아시아프로그램 코디네이터로서 활동하며 파트너 교회와의 협력을 통해 아시아의 평화와 안정을 위한 공헌하였고, 가치 있는 일을 하였습니다. 동북아시아의 평화와 정의를 위한 번의 깊은 관심과 연대에 감사드립니다.
번의 은퇴 이후에도 더 깊은 우정과 기쁨, 건강 누리게 되시기를 기도합니다.

Our dear friends in United Church of Canada, Church in Mission Unit,
Warm greetings of partnership from Seoul, South Korea.
It is my pleasure and sorrow, on behalf of the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea, to send my deep appreciation and best wishes for our close partner, Bern Jagunos, as she retires from her position as Asian Program Coordinator.
For many years, Bern has been the immediate and distinguished face of the United Church of Canada for us in PROK, as she has been for many of our partner churches in Asia. We have valued her contribution and exemplary commitment to the work of peace and stability in Asia, and the assistance she has given our ministries which have been supported by UCC. She has always had great clarity and understanding of Asian issues, and has been a source of solid advice and inspiration.
We particularly have appreciated her presence and attention to the wider picture when she participated in our PROK partnership consultation in 2005 and the PROK-UCC Joint Study on Empire, Peace and Economic Justice, which held its third biennial gathering last summer in Korea and the Philippines. Our PROK Justice and Peace department could always depend on Bern’s impassioned, justice-demanding letters to the Korean, the Canadian and other governments when they made a request to our partners to support our campaigns, letters about issues like Peace Treaty campaign, joint ROK/US military exercises, denuclearization, peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula, the Korea-Canada free trade agreement and others.
As we have just celebrated the 60th anniversary of the PROK, we have been remembering with affection and deep gratitude the many partners we have now, and have had over the years, particularly from Canada. Bern Jagunos has certainly been one whose contribution we have treasured. We thank Bern for her solidarity and support to our work of peace and justice in Asia, especially North East Asia. Our deepest wishes go with her as she comes to a time of retirement, and we wish her God’s richest blessings on her years ahead. We pray for health, joy, rich friendships and fulfillment in all that she does.
