2013년 11월 8일 하이옌 태풍의 심각한 피해를 입은 필리핀을 위하여 필리핀 그리스도 연합교회(UCCP)에 보낸 서신입니다.
PROK Letter of deep sympathy and solidarity to UCCP
The Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK) through her leaders, Rev. Park Dong-IL, Moderator and Rev. Bae Tae-Jin, General Secretary together with the presbyteries around the country express deep sympathy to the entire Filipino nation and the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) for the loss of estimated 10,000 lives and total destruction of houses of several millions at the wake of the Super Typhoon Haiyan last Friday and Saturday.
Through prayers of intercession, we share God’s deep compassion for those who are desperately and urgently need water, food and shelter and health care. Hopeful that amidst the extent of devastation Typhoon Haiyan has brought the Filipino people, God’s love will sustain the UCCP to do her best to provide relief and rehabilitation for those who suffer.
We have been gathering financial donations for the UCCP so you may hasten your relief and rehabilitation work in the devastated areas in the Visayas and the neighboring regions in the country.
We pray,
God of compassion and love:
You spoke through the swirling winds, the storm surge,
the devastation of homes and the loss of lives.
You were not in the super typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda,
nor in the surging waters.
You were not in the heaps of dead bodies that lie beside the heaps of debris.
You have been speaking to us in almost inaudible voice telling to us to be ready,
but we have been busy listening to our own voices, forgive us, O God.
We intercede to you, merciful God the desperate situation
of our brothers and sisters in the Visayas region, and other affected areas in the Philippines.
Let your saving and caring hands reach those whose lives are threatened
and those whose hopes are dimmed.
Protect those who are doing humanitarian work for the suffering people.
Let this prayer and supplications encourage the churches to respond with urgency.
Let hopes for rehabilitation and new life spring forth amidst the debris and desolation of the land.
In love and peace we pray through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
