Dear Mr. & Mrs. Arnold and Alayne Current,
The Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK) would like to
express deep sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and the entire
United Church of Canada (UCC) for the passing away of Ms. Marion Elizabeth
Current. We pray that God's abounding love will sustain the Ms. Current's
family and her immediate community as they both mourn and celebrate her
life.
The PROK and all those who have known her as Ku Ae-Ryeon, her Korean name,
would not forget how she taught and shared with them Christ's life and love
especially during her active years in service, witness and mission in Korea
as Professor for Clinical Physical Therapy Practice at Yonsei Severance
Hospital for twenty two years since she came to Korea in 1959, and from 1981
to 1997 served as Dean of the Department of Rehabilitation of Yonsei
University in Seoul.
In the larger social context, she received recognition for her dedication
and commitment in improving health science and practice in Korea through an
award for outstanding contribution for the health services given by the
Secretary of Health and Human Services of the government of the Republic of
Korea in 1996.
Ku Ae-Ryeon will always be remembered by the PROK, Yonsei University and
more by those who have seen the light and love of Jesus Christ in her
unconditional love and service in saving lives, giving hopes to those who
were desperate and recovery of health and strength of patients who have gone
through rehabilitation processes.
The PROK has been grateful to God for the life and service of Ku Ae-Ryeon /
Ms. Marion Elizabeth Current and to the United Church of Canada for sending
exemplars of Christian witness and service to the Korean people. We mourn
for Ku Ae-Ryeon's departure from this world, but we know that the doors of
heavenly abode will surely open for her to commune with God, the giver and
sustainer of life.
In deep sympathy and in Christ's comforting love,
REV. BAE TAE-JIN
General Secretary
